Some became superfamilies as a result of revival, such as Linotype Syntax, Linotype Univers while others have alternate styling designed as compatible replacements of each other, such as Compatil, Generis. Later examples include Futura, Lucida, ITC Officina. The first "extended" font families, which included a wide range of widths and weights in the same general style emerged in the early 1900s, starting with ATF's Cheltenham (1902–1913), with an initial design by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, and many additional faces designed by Morris Fuller Benton. In the metal type era, a font also meant a specific point size, but with digital scalable outline fonts this distinction is no longer valid, as a single font may be scaled to any size. Therefore, a given typeface, such as Times, may be rendered by different fonts, such as computer font files created by this or that vendor, a set of metal type characters etc. the software) that allows you to use a set of characters with a given appearance, whereas a typeface is the actual design of such characters. A font family is typically a group of related fonts which vary only in weight, orientation, width, etc., but not design. The design of characters in a font took into account all these factors.Īs the range of typeface designs increased and requirements of publishers broadened over the centuries, fonts of specific weight (blackness or lightness) and stylistic variants (most commonly regular or roman as distinct to italic, as well as condensed) have led to font families, collections of closely related typeface designs that can include hundreds of styles. Historically, fonts came in specific sizes determining the size of characters, and in quantities of sorts or number of each letter provided. For example, 8-point Caslon Italic was one font, and 10-point Caslon Italic was another. In professional typography, the term typeface is not interchangeable with the word font (originally "fount" in British English, and pronounced "font"), because the term font has historically been defined as a given alphabet and its associated characters in a single size. ![]() ![]() whilst they do help, a lot of it just ends up down the drain and i ultimately leg it. i've watched pretty much every how to drift vids on youtube. I'm on full fanatec gear, so it's definitely my crappy skills. i think it might be me lifting off throttle too much but i can't really pinpoint it cause there's so much crap going on during the drift. i also have this problem where sometimes in mid drift i get snap countersteer (i think that's what it is?). but i now know what causes it and sometimes i am able to save it. i still sometimes spin out initiating the drift. i can sort of hold a drift now, but screw up my exit most of the time. i have made some small progress since the start. i know this is suppose to be a difficult car to drift in this game, but i figured if i can drift this, i can drift anything. Everyone is different and will want different settings, I find it counterintuitive to try to follow someone else's settings, from my own personal experience.Any pro drifters around? been playing for several weeks and finding it a real learning curve. As for my FFB settings, I'd HIGHLY recommend the official guide, it is thorough and is the best place to start for figuring out your own settings. Hopefully this will be useful to some new users out there or those who are struggling to find this information. I originally did a 500 pass, and honestly I've not noticed any difference with the 1000 pass, but figured it can't hurt to have a more rigorous pass in place. csv file as well in the zip file for those who may want it. Here are those settings, for clarity:įor those who are interested/advanced users, I made this file using iRacing Force Feedback Test version 1.72, with Max Count set to 1000 and Step Time set to 500. This will create a Look Up Table (lut) file that Assetto Corsa can use to control the force feedback. As is stated in their official setup instructions, this curve does change based on driver settings and settings within G Hub, and I can confirm this as truth from testing. Run LUTGenerator and open the csv file that was just created by WheelCheck. ![]() THIS IS WITH DEFAULT LOGITECH G HUB SETTINGS. ![]() Looked in the files and took the one that looked most balanced, as the first check had a lot bigger FFB deadzone. So just editting that last part of the LUT above 30 or so to be linear to the top will probably fix the primary forces. Ive run four consecutive checks and they each differ a bit. Given the flaw in the wheelcheck and the usual process people use for generating a LUT typically what happens is all the weak forces get increased and the strong forces get reduced. Using a LUT, the game knows it has to output (for example) 1.2 Nm for the user to actually get that 1 Nm he was supposed to. Say a game wants to output a 1 Nm force, but the wheel actually outputs 0.8 Nm. Re-open the settings and go back to the Correction Curve, it should now show you this: Some say the wheel should be 'warm' when checking. It's a table of force feedback values - what the game sends and what the wheel actually outputs. Once you've done that, press Ctrl L, then press apply.Open the game, and go to Options -> Controls -> Force Feedback, scroll down and click the checkbox for 'Use Response Correction Curve'.Copy the t file to this location: C:\Users\'username'\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\'gameversion'\settings\inputmaps ( Note you MUST change 'username' to your Windows name and 'gameversion' to the current game version!).In particular, finding information for 'Correction Curve' can be incredibly tough. (l) as I appear on a viewer without the code, and someone on another viewer (regardless of the code it is using) looks to me – a “grey ghost”. Avatar baking 2013 and Phoenix in brief: These images show the impact of the new avatar baking service on a viewer which is not updated to the new code. The reason why it is vital for all TPVs incorporate the new code is because without it, avatars will fail to render correctly – so if Phoenix does not have the code, it simply “won’t work” when the new service is deployed. Given the overall status of Phoenix, it simply is not possible for the Phoenix Firestorm team to implement the changes in Firestorm and backport and integrate them into Phoenix (together with all the other changes required to get Phoenix back on a par with LL’s viewer development) in that time frame. Such is the complexity of these viewer changes that Linden Lab has sought to provide TPVs with an eight week window in which to implement and test them. However, it brings with it not only changes to the server-side of Second Life, but very major changes to the viewer itself. The major reason as to why the team has opted to formally announce the end of line for Phoenix now is because Linden Lab have notified TPVs of the forthcoming roll-out of server-side avatar baking in 2013.Īs I’ve explained in a recent blog post, server-side avatar baking is a significant change in the way Second Life operates and which should see an end to the major issue of avatar bake fail. ![]() It was a decision the Phoenix Team were entitled to make. Whether one agrees with this decision or not is actually moot. There are many reasons as to why this step is finally being taken, but they all have their roots in the fact that in late 2010, the decision was taken that to ensure future ease-of-development and enhancement of the viewer, it would be more in the Phoenix Team’s interest to develop a viewer which could more easily keep pace with LL’s development curve, rather than attempting to continually backport new code and features into a viewer that would be based on what would become an increasingly outdated code base. While this does not help those who have used Phoenix specifically with OpenSim, it does mean that potentially, the Phoenix legacy will live on, albeit under new management and a new name, on OpenSim. Within the blog post / announcement is a request that any developer wishing to work on the rebranded viewer should contact Virtual Reality at. Virtual Reality is an OpenSim hosting company focused on Aurora Sim side of OpenSim, and provides customers with grid space through its own Virtual Reality grid, as well supplying private grids to customers. The post goes on to state that as of the 29th December, work was underway to move the Phoenix code to Virtual Reality’s own systems, however the work will not include porting outstanding / open JIRA relating to Phoenix, as these are related to Second Life, which will not be the target environment for the rebranded viewer. We are eager to embrace this code base and develop it to support these changes.” “The Virtual Reality viewer will continue to work within OpenSim and Aurora based grids, however we hope to update the viewer to address a number of technical advancements that are presently happening in virtual worlds. “I am excited to have the opportunity to fork this highly popular viewer for virtual worlds users who use it and desire to continue to use it.”, said, Virtual Reality owner and CEO, Sonic Boom Drillion. Virtual Reality is pleased to announce that it will continue development, maintenance, and improvement of the Phoenix V1 viewer, which will be re-branded as the Virtual Reality Viewer. Though this may seem like a dark day for people who use and enjoy the Phoenix viewer, this cloud has a silver lining. Lyon stated that support for the viewer will be dropped to provide development and support focus on their Phoenix-Firestorm viewer. ![]() ![]() made an announcement that on Saturday, December 15, the Phoenix development team would no longer support the V1-based Phoenix virtual worlds viewer that has had a significant following of users in virtual worlds such as Second Life and OS Grid.
